A "Cherry" Hello!

Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a Merry Christmas/Happy Holiday etc.  Mine was wonderful, spent with loved ones and we even had a dusting of snow.  I would love to continue to show you Christmas cards but today I am showcasing the CottageCutz Canning Jar With Accessories from the Harvest Season Release.  This die has pickles, olives, strawberries and cherries.  It also has the blossoms from the strawberries, so it is very versatile.

I used my favorite color combination of red, white and blue, gingham and cherries.  I used clear scrap plastic to cut the jar from.  The cherries were cut from white cardstock and colored with copic sketch markers RV29 and R46.  The jar lid was cut from patterned paper.  I scored the white cardstock to look like wainscoting and made the finished card into a cottage kitchen scene.

I wish you all a safe, happy, and healthy New Year and  I will be back on the 7th!

Janice

CottageCutz Holiday Carolers

Hello Cottagecutz fans!  Today my card features the CottageCutz Holiday Carolers.  I cut the images from white cardstock and then I cut the gowns from red plaid from the Recollections Sugar Plums line.  The rest I colored with Copics.  The printed song behind the carolers is from Old World Winter paper pack by the Paper Studio.  I used Vintage Photo distress ink around the images.  It makes the images look less flat.  I assembled the card and punched a few snowflakes from glitter paper, then tied a little  bow from string to finish the card.
Have a great day!

Peachy Keen Happy Birthday Kathy and Challenge

Hello friends!  This is a special post to wish Kathy, the "Peachy Queen", a very Happy Birthday and to let her know how much we love and appreciate her!  Kathy you are such a wonderful person and so fun to be around!   I am very blessed to call you friend!  I have 2 cards for you, one that follows the sketch and one that hopefully puts a smile on your face.
Kathy your ginger stamps always make me smile, so I used some of my favorites to make the challenge card.  The peeker is sporting a party hat to help celebrate your birthday.
These two friendly mice are having a great old time singing Karaoke.  The squeezebox was stamped using a lantern stamp from the May 2012 stamp club.  I inked up the end of the stamp so that the handle of the lantern would be on both ends of the squeezebox so that it looks like an accordion.  Colored, scored, and folded the pleats.  Hope you have a very special birthday my friend!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

3 Fun Cards to Share

Good Morning friends!  Today I have 3 cards to share with you.  (I know, don't faint!)  I will start with my favorite card first.  It took me quite some time to think of how I wanted to showcase this CottageCutz Holly Jolly Legs die.  Once I thought of a clothesline nothing else would do.  So I went to my trusty google to search for clothespin images.  I should back up a little.  First I cut the legs from different colored papers, assembled, colored and inked them to add dimension.  Then I found the perfect snowy sky paper for my background.  Now here is when I searched google for clothespin images.  I found the ones I liked, printed and cut them out.  I made the snowy hills by cutting some white cardstock and adding lots of glitter.  I finished the card with a red bow and a silver bell.  Hope you like it! Oops!  I just realized I forgot to add the buckles to Santa's boots.  I think it still looks fine.
My next card I used the CottageCutz Red Bird Wreath die.  My son brought home some adhesive copper that was being tossed so I decided to try it out.  It was a little difficult to work with, but I kind of like how it turned out!  It is very different than what I am used to but I think it is good to step outside your box and try something new.
Finally I used CottageCutz Mistletoe and Holly die to make my third card.  I used a couple shades of green cardstock to cut the image from as well as from white.  I inked the greens, colored the red berries and assembled the die cut.  Next I choose my papers.  Sometimes this takes me a very long time, trying several options until I am satisfied.  I am embarrassed to say that I might spend a couple of hours searching for the right mix.  Some people choose their papers first and then design the card.  I color my images first and then choose the papers.  I am sure I would save myself a lot of time if I chose my papers first, but I prefer to color my images the way I want without having color restraints from the papers.  How about you?  Do you color first or choose papers first?  Well sorry to be so chatty today and take up so much of your time.  Here is my final card.
Have a great day!

Janice

Peachy Keen Challenge #45.

Good morning Peachy friends.  Viv shared an awesome site, Bird's Cards, for some free SVG's so I headed over to see what I might use for the Peachy Challenge.  When I saw this adorable birdhouse, I knew exactly which stamps I wanted to use.  PK- 267 Happy Bird and Phrases.  I love this Happy Bird and have used it often!  I also used the baby bird from a retired set.  Since the house has a Christmas wreath I made my happy bird red to be a red Christmas Cardinal.

I hope you like my card.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Janice

The CottageCutz Blog Hop

Welcome CottageCutz fans!  Welcome to our blog hop!  If you arrived here from Carol's blog, you are in the right place.  If not you will want to start at the beginning, The Scrapping Cottage blog.  Be sure and leave comments for your chance to win a wonderful prize from The Scrapping Cottage.  I have 2 cards to share with you today.  My first card features the adorable CottageCutz Jolly Snowman die.  Isn't he adorable!  I am partial to snowmen, I must admit.
I used white cardstock to cut the images and colored them with my Copics.  I added liquid applique to the hats and heat set to puff it up.  Added some glitter for sparkle and sheer polka dot ribbon along with some snowflakes to finish the card.  My next card was made with the CottageCutz Mitten Time die.

I made my mittens match and added glitter to the branches and the mittens.  I think they would make a very cute mitten garland if you strung them across a layout or a longer card.  Instead of the snowflakes you could add letters to the mittens to spell a greeting.  I hope you enjoyed my projects for today.  Now you may hop on over to Cindy's blog for even more inspiration.  Thanks so much for hopping along and enjoy the rest of the hop.

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Blog under construction..

My Blog is under construction.  Sorry for the inconvenience!

Sweet Christmas Fawn

Hello friends!  Today's card features the sweet CottageCutz Christmas Fawn and the CottageCutz Pine Tree Forest.  I am sure you know I love to make scenes and this little fawn is perfect for this cozy winter scene.  I cut the deer using kraft and white paper.  I used Vintage Photo distress ink to shade the deer and ink the edges.

I cut the Pine Tree Forest from green cardstock and inked the edges with Peeled Paint Distress Ink.  After assembly of the trees I added liquid applique and glitter, than used a heat gun to puff it up.  Glued everything in place and here is the end product.  These 2 dies are on sale along with so many others at the Scrapping Cottage Store, but it ends soon!

Get your shop on and have fun!

Fall Harvest

Good morning friends!   As the holiday's approach I look forward to spending time with my family and being thankful for the blessings of love and friendships in my life.  I am truly blessed!

re

For today's card I used CottageCutz Rustic Fence and CottageCutz Fall Basket of Fruit.  Nothing says Fall like a bushel of apples.  Today I will shop for Thanksgiving groceries, and apples will surely be on my list for apple pies.  Whether you celebrate Thanksgiving or not, I hope you will reflect on the people that are important in your life and let them know they are loved.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Peachy Challenge 43

Here is my card for the new Anything Goes challenge over at Peachy Keen Stamps.  I used the adorable Elf girl stamp from the newest Peachy Keen Stamp Club set!  PKSC-11.   Now if you know me at all, I generally don't like things with pointy ears, gnomes, leprechauns, etc. (Kathy even indulged me with the March 2012 Stamp Set, by leaving the pointy ears off the gnomes).   Well these elves are so ADORABLE pointy ears and all!!  I think this is my FAVORITE monthly set thus far!  Ohhhhh.... and another favorite is that the elves and reindeer are faceless!

There are several faces that come with the set or you can use faces from other sets.  I love having choices!  Kathy you are the best!!  I loved coloring this little cutie with my Copics.  So FUN!!  You can check out the Peachy Challenge HERE!

Thanks for stopping by!

Peachy Keen November Challenges

Here are my projects for the November release at the Peachy Keen Connection.  One was to make a tag with Peachy Keen Stamps, and one was to use snowflakes with your Peachy Keen Stamps.
I used the free set I received with qualifying purchase from the week long sale.  There's still some time before the sale ends on Monday November 12 at 6pm central standard time.

For this card I used the penguin from PK-147 Skatin' by.  I used the Small Madison Window die from Poppystamps/Memory Box.  The penguin is peeking out the window and is so excited to go play in the snow.  I used my ScorePal to create the siding.  I used the plastic from a clear envelope to create the frosty windows.  Finished with a snowflake and some ribbon.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Your visits are always appreciated.

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Autumn Centerpiece

Good morning friends!  Today's card features one of my favorite Thanksgiving dies from last year.  It is the CottageCutz Autumn Centerpiece.  There are lots of possibilities with this die.  I also used the CottageCutz Oval Doily and Frame die as a platter for my table centerpiece.   Here is my card.

I used various papers and added shading with distress ink and Copics.  Hope you like it!  Have a wonderful day!

Hugs and smiles.

More Background Fun!

Hello everyone!  I am back with the card I said I would share with you using the CottageCutz Frankly die.  I made this background before I realized what a great cloud the hole in the ground negative would make.  For these clouds I tore a strip of paper about 3 inches long making a rough edge.  I then sponged Memento grey flannel to create the wispy clouds.  The negative stencil is much easier to use, and I plan on using it more often.
I used CottageCutz Halloween Scene for my second card.  The background is from a card that I made awhile back on my blog.  I didn't like the way it was turning out, so I started over.  I didn't throw it away because I thought I might find some use for it.  It was perfect for this little Halloween Scene.  Hope you like it!
Have a safe and fun Halloween!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Fun Halloween card and some tips.

Hello everyone!  Happy Fall!  I have been playing with backgrounds lately, and I have one to share with you today.  I used CottageCutz Trick or Treat Ghost and CottageCutz Frankly to create my scene.  Here is my card.

I used the tombstone from the Frankly die and the negatives of the hand and the hole in the ground.

Do you ever use the negatives of your die cuts to make something else?  I just happened to be using both dies when I noticed the negative for the hole in the ground.  I thought it was the perfect stencil to create the spooky clouds.  Then to create a little more spookiness I used the hand negative to have hands reaching from the grave.  I just flipped it over to have a right and left.  Again here is the finished card.

Next week I will be sharing the card I made with the CottageCutz Frankly.  Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Peachy Challenge #38 Anything Goes

Hello Peachy fans!  Here is my entry for this weeks Peachy Challenge #38.  I thought that I would try another sky background, this time in shades of pink and purple.  Not that thrilled with it but it's ok.  Thanks so much for having a look.

This was difficult to photograph, so I apologize for the poor quality photo.  The little cats are from a tiny punch.

Spooky Halloween

Hello friends!  Today I have a spooky scene to share with you.  I love Halloween and had a lot of fun making this card!  The size of the card is 5x7.  I started by making the moon.  I love making the night sky!  I cut the CottageCutz Bats on Branch from white cardstock and used my Copics to color them.  I cut the fence from black cardstock with the CottageCutz Picket Fence Border Die.  Love the size of this die!  Finally, I used the CottageCutz  Pumpkin Trio die for the jack-o-lanterns.  I assembled the card, added some white gel highlights, and some cobwebs to complete the card.

Have a great day!

More Halloween Fun

Hello friends!  Today I have another Halloween card to share with you.  I have been loving what the other designers have been sharing with their CottageCutz dies.  I used the CottageCutz Witches Clothesline to make my card.  This die is so fun.  I used the tree from this die last week.  I can see using this tree often on Fall cards or winter scenes.  The lamp-post could be used as part of a scene by changing the color and adding a wreath.  I always try to think of ways I could use the die for more versatility.

I used a dark cardstock for the sky and added some chalk ink with a sponge to make it look a little foggy.  I used black cardstock for the black images.  The other images were cut from white and colored with Prismacolor colored pencils.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend and have some time to enjoy this beautiful Fall weather we have been having.

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Peachy Challenge 3D Candles

Hi all!  Here is a real quick post as I have so little time before it closes.  Couldn't get a very good picture either, but here goes.

Well I got it linked with just 7 minutes to spare.  Since my workspace was still a mess from my swap cards, I decided to go with what was at hand.  I used the haunted house and the witch from the September PKSC-9. It looks better in the dark with the candle lit.  The moon glows.  Wasn't able to capture that in the photo.  The Design Team did an awesome job with their candles.  You can read all about it here.

Thanks for stopping by!

Peachy Keen Stamps

Hello friends!  Just wanted to share a couple cards I have made for a card swap at the Peachy Keen Connection.  Have you ever joined a card swap?  I started joining swaps probably about 5 years ago.  When I first started making cards, I had flimsy cardstock, because I didn't know any better.  I learned a lot by swapping with others.  I found out where to get good products, cardstock in particular. That is when I first heard of Stampin' Up.  They have wonderful cardstock!  Lots of other companies have very good quality cardstock, too.   A good foundation is the best place to start, when making cards.  So here are the cards I made.

I used the witch on broom stamp from the September PKSC-09.  I used the cat from PK-630 Nikkity Knack Cat Gang.

For the scarecrow I used PK-609 Build a Scarecrow and the wood sign from PK-646 Faceless Fall Fun 2.

The images were colored with Copics.  Thanks for having a look.

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Peachy Challenge #35

Hello friends!  This weeks challenge at Peachy Keen Stamps is just cards, teacher.  I wanted to practice some shading and masking, so I decided to do a pile of pencils.  The stamp is from the August 2012 stamp kit.

I stamped and masked and used my Copics to color them up.  Added some ribbon, a tag, and a button.  Thanks for stopping by.

For my next card I used an OLDIE but GOODIE!!  PK-613 Happy Scarecrow.  I have had this stamp for years and it still inks up and stamps beautifully, and I never grow tired of this CUTIE!!  I also used my Copics to color it up and my trusty gingham ribbon to finish it off.

Hello friends!  Today's card features 3 dies from the CottageCutz Halloween Release.  I used the tree from The Witches Clothesline, the CottageCutz Spiderweb Border die, and the CottageCutz Cat on Pumpkin die.  I used some textured cardstock to cut the pumpkin and the leaves from.  The cat was cut from white cardstock along with his hat, then colored with Copics.  The tree and the spider web were cut from black cardstock.  I assembled the card, and tied some gingham ribbon to finish it off.

I hope you enjoyed this scenic card.  Have a great day everyone and thanks for stopping by!

CottageCutz Just Married Car

Hello friends!  Today's card features the CottageCutz Just Married Car.  I used glossy cardstock for the car thinking it would look like a brand new shiny car.  Well I finished assembling the car and was ready to make the card when I spilled water on my desk and also some droplets got on the die cut.  Rather than start over, I covered the area damaged by water with glitter then used some fun Valentine paper to complete the card.  When you have a mishap, what creative things do you try to fix your blunders?  I think the glitter worked for my "car accident".

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Peachy Challenge 33 Anything Goes

Hello everyone!  Here is a card I made for the Peachy Keen Challenge, Anything Goes.  I used PK-125 Recess Jump Rope Girl.  I stamped the image and stamped it again on thin paper to make a mask.  A mask is used to cover an image so that you can stamp another image behind it or sponge the clouds, as is the case with my card.  I used copics to color her.
I used a 3 inch circle punch to punch out the image and a larger scallop punch to frame it.  I trimmed about an inch strip from the top of the card and used a scallop border punch to add visual interest.  Peachy Keen is having a September release party on Wed. Sept. 5 at 6:00 pm central time at the Peachy Connection.  They are always fun and you might win a prize!  Thanks for stopping by!

Janice

Peachy Challenge 32

CottageCutz Special Occasion Dress

Hi everyone!  Today's card features the CottageCutz Special Occasion Dress from the Wedding Release.  This dress can be made several ways for a variety of occasions.  I used patterned paper for the dress and inked the edges with Memento dandelion ink.  As I was seeing which papers I wanted to use for my card, I thought it would be cute to make a small notecard for the front of the card, using the dress as the opening.  Alone, the notecard would make a cute gift enclosure.  Added to the front of a standard card gives you a fun fold.  This dress could be used for prom layouts, weddings, Sweet 16 birthdays.

It happens to be my youngest son's birthday today.  He turns 16, but I don't think he would appreciate a Sweet 16 birthday card. lol  Enjoy your day!

MFT Guest Designer Contest

Hi everyone!  Tonight I am sharing a card I made for the My Favorite Things Guest Designer Contest.  There is still time to play along if you would like.  You can read all about it here.  I used Pure Innocence- Being Cute Is What I Do.  The background papers are Cosmo Cricket.

I used  Die-namics Plentiful Petals, Die-namics Jumbo Squiggle, and Die-namics sentiment strips.  I chose a wild cherry button from MFT.  She was colored with Copics.  I hope to make a couple more before the deadline, if time permits.  Thanks for stopping by.

Peachy Challenge 31: Box It Up

Hello Peachy friends!  Here is my entry for the Peachy Challenge 31.  I decorated this small tin to hold my white gel pens.  I used the stamp sets PK-268 Happy Mother's Day and PK-267 Happy Bird and Phrases. Though hard to see, I paper-pieced the birds and added more depth with my Copics.

Do you think I have enough gel pens?  Now that I have made a pencil box for them I might be able to find them when I need one.  We can hope!  :)  Have a great day!

Janice

Peachy Challenge 30: Just Cards Popped Up

Hello friends!  My middle son is leaving for Penn State tomorrow for his Master's Degree.  It is his first time living away from home. :(  I sure am going to miss him!!  But I am happy for him as he starts a new chapter in his life.  So I have been cooking up a farewell dinner.  He requested lasagna, a family favorite, and for dessert I made cheesecake.  Between cooking and baking I have finally finished my project for the Peachy Challenge 30.  I used the adorable Stamp of the Month kit, PKSC-08.  Every month I seem to be saying, this is my favorite set!  I love the teacher and the variety of faces you can choose.  I stamped and paperpieced the teacher.  I colored her with copics and drew some frames for the eyeglasses to stay on her face. hahaha  I used my stage template to create my school classroom.  (changed the measurements to suit the images)  This card will fold flat if you remove the brads holding the awning in place.  I still want to add some images to the outside of the card and will post more pictures later.

The student is from the set PK-124 Thank you dolls.  The clock is from PKSC-04.  Thanks for stopping by.  Your visits are very much appreciated!  Thank you!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice
