Farewell Blog Hop

Good morning everyone!  I am so glad you have joined us for this farewell blog hop! You should have arrived here from Jeanne's blog.  If not start at Tanya's blog, which is the first stop in the hop.

Though it is sad to say good-bye I take with me wonderful memories of being on the most awesome design team with such a great group of gals!  So we were asked to share a few of our favorite projects from 2013.

Here is a card I made in August.  How CUTE is that octopus?!!  I shared a new technique for the background and was quite pleased with the results.  You may see the original post here.

Second is my "dream kitchen".  You can see the original post here.  Next is this shadow box created with several of my favorite sets.

I think this depicts my style best, creating fun scenes.  Click here to see my original post.

Here is a card I made to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

I want to thank all of you for visiting my blog throughout the year.  I hope you will continue to visit often.  Now your next stop on this farewell hop is the sweet and talented Glora.  Don't forget to leave comments on each blog for a chance to win a face set of your choice.

As a thank you to my followers I have a prize too! Be sure to leave a comment here for a chance to win one of two sets.  I am offering PK-266 Duck Dolls and PK-209 Life is good Babies, two of my favorite sets. (I have lots of favorites!)  Good luck!

A HUGE thank you to Kathy and the entire Peachy Keen family!  Being on this design team has been such a blessing in my life and I am so lucky to call you my friends!  Love you guys!

Edit:  I forgot to share my very favorite for this year.  I named it Wonderment!

All Dressed Up Challenge

Hello friends!  My friend Viv  is on the design team for All Dressed Up digital stamps, by Wendy Burns.  A very talented group of designers and I am sure many of you are familiar with Wendy burns.  They are a new team and this is their 5th challenge.  You can read all the details here.

So I have chosen this sweet image and added poinsettias and snowflakes to make it a festive Christmas card.  I know I know, a sleeveless dress for Christmas?  Well I love the image and wanted to color her, so here it is.

I used Copics to color her.  I tend to use a lot of color on my images so I wanted a softer look.  I used E51 E11 and E00 for her skin color.  I am happy with the end result.  Her dress was colored with R17 R21 and R43.

I hope you will consider joining the challenge.  I am #4.  You still have 4 days to enter.  Thanks so much for visiting my blog!  Enjoy the day!

Make It Crafty DT Inspiration

Hello everyone!  Make It Colourful has a new challenge with 2 levels of difficulty.  The easy challenge is to use red and green.  Here is my card for that one.

The image I used for this card can be found here.  In fact this is the very image I colored for the store.  My next card is for the difficult challenge, adding texture.
I was inspired by Kay's card, here.  Isn't it amazing?

As you can see I added texture to the blue knit hat.  I also added pine needles and snow to the trees.  The snow is Ice White Viva Pearl Pen.  Love that stuff!

I have really enjoyed my time on the MIC FB Inspiration Team.  They are having a new DT call and you can read all about the details here.  If you want to broaden and improve your coloring skills this is a great group to be a part of!  Zoe did an amazing tutorial on Colouring Pine Trees With Snow.  Please check it out.  There is so much to learn and the women there are amazing and offer advice if you ask for it.  All skill levels are welcome!  This is the private FB group you can join and where I have spent the last 4 months on the FB team.  Thank you Zoe!  It has been so inspiring and FUN!  And big SQUEEZES to you Zoe!  You are a beautiful person, inside and out!

Make It Crafty DT Inspiration and Little Miss Muffet Stamps

Hi everyone!  Tonight I am sharing a card I made with 2 digi stamps.  I had so much fun coloring this.  I love the colors and flowers of the 70's.  I think that Melody from the Make It Crafty store works perfectly with Little Miss Muffet's Zen Flowers Border.

I used Copics to color these images.  I feel the bright fun colors are enough to complete the card.  No embellishments needed.  I hope you like it.  I am entering this into Little Miss Muffet Challenge 75 - You've Been Framed.

Have a great night!

Janice

Make It Crafty DT Inspiration

Hello friends!  I have a couple of cards I would like to share with you using some fun digital stamps from Make It Crafty.  This first card uses the adorable Penelope With Teddy stamp.  Isn't she a cutie?  I paired her with the Hearth and Home digi stamp.  I love to sit by a warm fire and she looks all cozy in her pajamas.  Wish I was sitting in front of a fire right now.  It is a bit cold here.  Here is my card.  I colored her up quite some time ago so I don't remember the colors I used.

My second card was made with Angelicbelle Digi Stamp.  I made this card for the Make it Colourful Challenge #3.  Skin and muscle definition.  My detail is very subtle on this card but I think it turned out okay.  This month flew by so quickly.  A new challenge will begin tomorrow, so I hope you might give it a try.  Here is my card.

Doesn't she look festive for the holidays?

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Thanksgiving

Hello friends!  I hope you have been enjoying the Fall weather.  I thought I would share a little gift bag and card celebrating Fall and being thankful for our blessing as Thanksgiving approaches.  I have much to be thankful for and look forward to spending time with loved ones.

The gift bag is a simple lunch bag stamped with the colors of the season.  I used PKSC-09 September 2012 for the leaves and acorn and PKSC-10 October 2012 for the Turkey and sentiment.  The stamps that I used are from a monthly subscription that you can sign up for.  You can read all about the program here.   It is a fantastic bargain and so much fun to receive some peachy goodness each month in the mail.

I used pigment inks to stamp the leaves.  I find that pigment inks are best used on solid stamps.  Have you ever noticed if you use regular ink on a solid stamp it often appears spotty?  The stamped image can also be affected by the type of paper you use.  These are things you will learn by exploring different inks and stamps along with a variety of papers.  Happy stamping!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Peachy Keen Sneak Peeks Day 2

Hello Peachy fans!  It is day 2 of the November sneak peeks.  I have made several cards for this release.  These stamps are so fun and have endless possibilities!  I will share a few with you today and post some more later.  If you missed yesterday's peeks you may view them here.  Visit the blog all week and we will have the final reveal on November 5th.

I made this card while visiting Peachy Keen and Viv, Kathy and Gigi!  It was a lot of fun!  Colored with copics and paper pieced.

Another one made in Green Bay.  Their clothes were made with background stamps and cut out.  The colors look better in real life.

Here is a third card, also made in Green Bay.  I love making scenes so I made this into a sewing room complete with hanging photos on the wall.  These snow cuties are dressed in clothes  sewn just for them. .

I made this card when I returned to Massachusetts, using the adorable mini stamps from the stamp club kit and an awesome background stamp!

I hope you have enjoyed these peeks and that you will come back for the complete reveal on November 5th.

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Peachy Keen Challenge 13-43

Hello Peachy Fans!  Time for a new Peachy Challenge.  This week the challenge is to make a 3D item with a Fall Sports Theme.  Well I made a 3D Fall project and read the instructions more closely and realized I was supposed to do Fall Sports.  So rather than toss what I had made, I decided to add another item and dress the ducks in Halloween costumes that are Fall sports.  Here are my projects.

I used PK-266 Duck Dolls.  I used the stamps from the Cottage Cutz Fuzzy Spider die.  The football, basketball, and baseball were cut from some scrap fabric and were used to make the costumes.

Thanks for stopping by!

Keep Calm and Doodle On

Hello friends.  Today I wanted to share a technique called Zentangle.  You have probably seen this technique before but if not here it is.  It is called Zentangle, but to me it is doodling.  If you can doodle, you can Zentangle.  It is usually done on white cardstock with black ink.  I used a 0.1 fine tip copic multi-liner to draw with.  I used the apple stamp from the October Stamp of the Month kit.

It is fun to used small stamped images if you feel free-hand would be too intimidating to start.  Here are some that I have done, and some that were not used.

For my first card, I stamped three apples and only Zentangled one apple.  I wanted that to be the focal point of the image.  I then added some color with my copics.

For the Harvest greetings card, I punched 3 one and one quarter inch squares from white cardstock, stamped a single apple onto each square, and doodled different designs on each.  I mounted each square onto one and one half inch black cardstock.  I finished my design onto a white card base.

For this card I stamped another grouping of apples and zentangled all 3.  Then I stamped 3 more and only zentangled one of them and fussy cut all 3 out.  I stamped the word apples across a white strip of cardstock and used in place of ribbon.

My final card was made with the circle frame stamp.  I just stamped a fun design and added Zentangle in just a few spots.  I couldn't resist the cute little faces so I added them randomly into the stamped circles.  This card just makes me smile.

As you can see the art of Zentangle lends itself to clean and simple.  I hope I have inspired you to try something new.

Keep calm and Doodle on.

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Make It Crafty DT Inspiration

Hello friends.  Today I am sharing a wonderful image from Make It Crafty for the new Colouring Challenge for October.  Here are the details.

Each month we’ll challenge you to TWO challenges. An easy challenge to whet your appetite and then a hard challenge to get you to explore new ideas and grow more confident.
Want Feedback??
We’re also here to encourage you along the way so if you would like to receive feedback on your project and advice on how you can improve – pop over to the Make it Crafty private FB group and post your project there where we can actively interact with you. Just make sure to let us know ‘what’ you would like advice on or you may not receive the help you are after. :)
I love  how encouraging and supportive they are at Make It Crafty.  I posted my image when I thought it was finished.  I asked for advice on how to make the image more 3D.  Here are my before advice and after advice images.  I received some wonderful advice from the very talented Barbara from ForgottenScraps."Forgotten Scraps I love the definition and I can see the details in the cheek bones, nose an mouth area are nicely placed! I would add a little bit of shadow just under the nose area so the nostrils aren't by themselves.  Then keep practicing this until your comfortable to go darker! You can also experiment with a little more blush color in the shaded area around the cheeks just to add a little color, maybe R11 to start with. But seriously, this is fab - you should pat yourself on the back!"
Now how is that for feedback?  If you want to improve your coloring skills
Make it Crafty private FB group is the place to go.

My card is for the hard challenge, which was to include a reflection in the eyes.  I hope you will play along.  All skill levels are welcome.  Make it Crafty images should be used if posting to the private group.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope I have inspired you to try something new.
Hugs and smiles,
Janice
